Chronic Illness Mindset
Because our thoughts will make us, or break us.
If you’ve been following me on social media for any amount of time, you know that I am regularly talking about mindset. That’s because I know, with 100% certainty, that we are unable to heal and grow to our fullest capacity without addressing our mental, emotional, and spiritual health. We can be doing all the “right” things in our healing journey — eating the best food, moving our bodies in the best way, sleeping well, drinking clean water, taking all the supplements. But if we are not playing attention to what is going on in our minds and our hearts, then none of that matters. Our mental health plays more of a role in our physical health than we ever thought possible (and thankfully science is starting to catch up to this fact!).
Sure, all of those things will take us to a certain point. They did for me. On the outside, I was doing all the “right” things. And I did make improvements in my health… to a certain point. And then I ended up with a full-blown eating disorder and a lot of misery. Because I was spending all of my time focusing on the surface level stuff and not going deep and dealing with all of the rest.
This may sound scary and overwhelming. It doesn’t have to be though. Just like our healing protocols should not consume all of our mental space, work on our mental health should not as well. It’s a delicate balance of many moving parts, but when we can work towards bringing them all into harmony, amazing things can happen.
